My Essentials As An Artist

Part of being an artist is trying out a variety of materials and finding the ones that best suit my preferences and paintings. Many of the essential things that are a part of my painting routine besides paint are the brushes and other coatings that go on top of my finished paintings.

Finding the right brush is like trying to fit dozens of different puzzle pieces in the right spot. Throughout the years of being a professional artist, I found that my favourites are the Princeton Artist Brushes, especially the type Summit 6100F (as pictured). This is one of the top artist supplies in my toolkit as they enable me to bring my visions to life with precision and finesse. The Summit 6100F in particular has excellent bristles and allows for smooth and controlled brushstrokes. It is a very versatile brush that I use in many of my paintings.

Another one of my essential tools in creating my artwork is the Golden Isolation Coat. This glossy barrier plays a crucial role in preserving the integrity and longevity of my paintings. This coat is applied before the final varnish and acts as a protective layer to protect the paint underneath. Another important thing about coating your paintings is it can help minimize the risk of colour shifts over time, make the colours pop, and makes it a more smooth and even surface.

As an artist, my essentials are the vital tools that empower my creative process. From the canvas and paints that form the foundation of my artwork, to the brushes and palette knives that bring my visions to life, each element plays a significant role.
